The city of Lima (whose origin of the Quechua Limaq) is located on the central coast of Peru, on the shores of the Pacific Ocean, flanked by the coastal desert and extending over the valleys of the Chillón, Rímac and Lurín rivers. The Spanish foundation was given on January 18, 1535 with the name “The City of the Kings” in the agricultural region known by the indigenous people as Limaq. Lima became the capital of the Viceroyalty of Peru and the largest and most important city in South America during the regime of the Spanish empire.

Barranco is considered the artistic, bohemian and romantic neighborhood of Lima. The history of this beautiful district begins with a pre-Hispanic occupation, the first settlers were fishermen, and then during the colonial era this was the area where the Spanish used to spend afternoons in the gardens looking at the horizon of the sea.
For years it was a summer resort, a place of recreation for the Lima elite and today (the neighborhood where Mario Testino was born -the most important contemporary photographer who has portrayed many movie stars and musicians- and where Mario Vargas Llosa has a house ) is the preferred area for artists and Peruvians looking for that atmosphere of galleries, concept stores, urban art and charming areas to walk around.
Visit to the Pedro de Osma Museum, a family home from the early 20th century that contains a large collection of colonial art: paintings, sculptures, and silverware, both from the Lima and Cuzco painting schools.
